Image-guided Drainage Using the Trocar Technique
نویسندگان
چکیده
Objective: To investigate the safety profile of image-guided drainage using the trocar technique. Methods: The medical records of 93 patients undergoing image-guided drainage procedures using the trocar technique at a local regional hospital from September 2004 to December 2006 were reviewed. Results: There were no incidences of significant neurovascular or adjacent organ damage. Conclusion: In experienced hands, the trocar technique is safe for image-guided drainage.

This report summarizes the results of 64 percutaneous catheter drainage of abdominal abscesses and fluid collections in 56 patients. Aspiration and drainage was guided with computed tomography in 34 patients and with ultrasound in 30 patients. Success rate was 90%. Infected collections were successfully drained in 94% and noninfected collections in 72% . Partial success was achieved in two...
متن کاملPercutaneous imaging-guided abdominal and pelvic abscess drainage in children.
Percutaneous imaging-guided drainage is the first-line treatment for infected or symptomatic fluid collections in the abdomen and pelvis, in the absence of indications for immediate surgery. The technology and expertise needed to perform percutaneous abscess drainage are widely available and readily adapted for use in the pediatric population. Catheter insertion procedures include the trocar an...

INTRODUCTION The management of orbital abscesses in neonates and infants is very challenging. Surgical drainage of the abscess is aimed at removing the pus and preventing blindness. We describe a case of orbital abscess in an infant that was caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and that was successfully drained with image-guided endoscopic surgery. PRESENTATION OF CASE A 39-d...
متن کاملComparative evaluation of sump drainage by trocar puncture, percutaneous catheter drainage versus operative drainage in the treatment of Intra-abdominal abscesses: a retrospective controlled study
BACKGROUND Intra-abdominal and pelvic abscesses are common and result from various illnesses. Percutaneous drainage applies limitedly to well-localized abscesses with appropriate density while surgical drainage usually causes significant physiological disturbance. We herein illustrated an innovative choice "sump drainage with trocar puncture" for the management of intra-abdominal abscesses and ...
